    Corrosion, translated from Latin, means "to decompose" or "to eat" and refers to the interaction between a metal and its environment triggered by electrochemical reactions. Corrosion leads to a negative change in the properties of the metal and, depending on its characteristics and duration, can lead to considerable impairment of the function of the affected component or the entire technical system.
